Shed come studio...

Our little shed has been many things in it's lifetime..a summer house..a shed & now a studio!

Well it is still a shed as storage space is precious at 'snowdrop cottage'..but a little corner of it has now become my studio. Somewhere i can paint without having to put everything away everytime i paint.

Hubby has made sure everything is water tight by refelting the roof& insulting it so it is now nice & snug!

My jugs of brushes & a picture of my dear freind julie to help inspire me.

A girl has to have bunting!! Now i have covered my work bench in a matching oil cloth incase of spiliges!!

Here is the piece i am working on at the moment..almost done pics to follow.

And not forgetting my little helpers who sit at mummys feet while she paints!

Busy painting...

Morning everyone & what a beautiful morning it is too here in essex.
I have been busy with my painting again..i started this little one while on holiday in cornwall.
It was based on a picture i took when walking on the coastpath on the Roseland Peninsula.

This is a smaller piece measuring 6x6'',oil on canvas. ''Gorse lined coast path''.
I was planning to list in my folksy shop but i have grown rather fond of it..decisions decisions!!

This piece again oil on canvas measuring 9 3/4 x 11 3/4 '' approx.
Using brighter colours this time..''seapinks on the cliff edge''.

More vintage goodies for sale...

I have decided to close my little unit at our local antiques centre at the end of the month so i have a big sale on down there but here are a few items that i didn't want to put into the sale.

And thought some of you lovely bloggers might be interested?
The first item is this lovely little antique mirrored cupboard..the lid lifts up for you to put your bits & pieces in,i thought it would make a lovely jewellery box it can stand on a dressing table or hang on the wall.
The sizes are 10 1/2 x 10 1/4 x 4 inchs approx.
It has the original mirror & some lovely detailing.

Next we have these vintage beads in black,gold & clear glass. Double strand,overall lengh approx 16inchs.

This sweet little vintage buckle..i thought it would make a nice accessorie for a bear?

Vintage ned looking for a new stable...

To rest his wheels!!

Sorry i am still getting used to blog mode again as it has been so long i have become a bit rusty!!

This lovely vintage old ned is looking for new pastures to wheel his lovely old green wheels.

He stands at his highest point at approx 15 inchs & he is very well loved..which adds to his charm!

My Folksy Shop....Coastal Treasure

At long last i have got my backside into gear & done something that i had wanted to do for ages.
But sometimes it just takes that certain something to make you actually get up & do it..why i don't know.
For ages now i had wanted to start painting as i admire people who have this amazing talent...i have a few friends who are artists & one in particular really inspired me to get on & do it!!
So last year i started have lessons & i go to a class once a week at this class we learn watercolours which isn't what i really enjoy doing but it all helps in the learning process & i have made some new friends.
But what i do really enjoy is painting in oils as i say i am still learning & still have loads to learn but i love it & find it very relaxing. I just get lost for a few hours in my painting & don't hink about anything else!
I have had a lot of positive feedback so far which is encouraging..so i have just opened my little folksy shop 'Coastal Treasure'..you can click onto it from my side bar.
I will add more work as i complete it..i started another painting yesterday this one is more textured as i used my pallet knife more so watch this space....

Let me start by wishing you all a very happy & healthy new year..a bit late i know!
Sorry i have been away from the land of blog for so long..but it has been quite a rough time for us here at 'snowdrop cottage' since i last did a post.
I wont bore you all with all the details but i had been feeling unwell for sometime and after lots of tests & back & forth to see the doc i was diagnosed with CFS (Chronic fatigue syndrome) or what some may know as M.E..luckily for me i dont have it severly as some people do but believe me it has been 'pants'!!
Never mind onwards & upwards & hopefully as we go through 2012 i will feel better & better,fingers crossed!!
My mother in law too has been very poorly & in & out of hospital for over 3 months..things have improved but she is still far from right. So all in all a very stressful & emotional time for us all.
But it's not all bad i have been learning new things which i will tell you about very soon!
