He stands at his highest point at approx 15 inchs & he is very well loved..which adds to his charm!

My Folksy Shop....Coastal Treasure

At long last i have got my backside into gear & done something that i had wanted to do for ages.
But sometimes it just takes that certain something to make you actually get up & do it..why i don't know.
For ages now i had wanted to start painting as i admire people who have this amazing talent...i have a few friends who are artists & one in particular really inspired me to get on & do it!!
So last year i started have lessons & i go to a class once a week at this class we learn watercolours which isn't what i really enjoy doing but it all helps in the learning process & i have made some new friends.
But what i do really enjoy is painting in oils as i say i am still learning & still have loads to learn but i love it & find it very relaxing. I just get lost for a few hours in my painting & don't hink about anything else!
I have had a lot of positive feedback so far which is encouraging..so i have just opened my little folksy shop 'Coastal Treasure'..you can click onto it from my side bar.
I will add more work as i complete it..i started another painting yesterday this one is more textured as i used my pallet knife more so watch this space....

Let me start by wishing you all a very happy & healthy new year..a bit late i know!
Sorry i have been away from the land of blog for so long..but it has been quite a rough time for us here at 'snowdrop cottage' since i last did a post.
I wont bore you all with all the details but i had been feeling unwell for sometime and after lots of tests & back & forth to see the doc i was diagnosed with CFS (Chronic fatigue syndrome) or what some may know as M.E..luckily for me i dont have it severly as some people do but believe me it has been 'pants'!!
Never mind onwards & upwards & hopefully as we go through 2012 i will feel better & better,fingers crossed!!
My mother in law too has been very poorly & in & out of hospital for over 3 months..things have improved but she is still far from right. So all in all a very stressful & emotional time for us all.
But it's not all bad i have been learning new things which i will tell you about very soon!

Her beautiful dress is handmade using vintage trims & aged using the tea stained method.

Antique bear is a mohair collectors piece & not intended as a toy..he is one of a kind.

Made of mohair filled with wood wool like all old bears,shoe button eyes & dressed with vintage trims.

As you can see his paw pads have been given the 'aged' look with tea staining the pads..he has some stiching here & there to add to the antique look.

He is a jointed bear & comes with his 'antique' sign & also with his swing tags signed by the artist.

Antique bear measures 15 inchs approx..

He is from my own collection & of course is from a smoke free home & in immaculate condition.

Murphy Moo's First Birthday!!

Our little boy' Murphy moo' is now one..it was his birthday on the 25th july.

So to celebrate we took a trip too the coast..East Mersea,some of you may remember i done a post last year on West Mersea. Well they are all part of the same island..we don't normally go to this part but someone told us about a lovely trust park there so we decided to take a look.

It was a glorious day,the sun was shining. Even though there were plenty of people about you had plenty of space to yourselves.

It was new to the boys too so they had great fun exploring...climbing rocks,finding sticks,rolling in the sand.

Parts of the beach were the sea comes in is quite muddy...

Here is the birthday boy our little chunky monkey as we call him. What a beautiful boy he has grown into...dont you think he has filled out a lot?

We kept walking for a few hours..you could walk all the way to west mersea if you wished...

We stopped for refreshments & to enjoy the view....

And here is love of my life..the big bro! He gets soooo excited when we go to the beach.

A stick..lovely...this one is such a chewer!

As always there is always a lovely boat moored up to photograph at mersea..

We had a super day..finished offf with a stop at a country pub for some good old fish & chips in the wonderful sunshine.

Sorry i haven't blogged in ages but we have been so busy doing jobs at home..we just have not stopped. I will show you some pics of what we have been up too.

I am sitting doing this post at my newly decorated office come dressing room where i now have a view from my desk out the window. Cant be bad hey?!!

Day four...

Day four of our hols....

found us walking the other way along the coastpath..it was another glorious day. Temperatures reached 19!!

Stopping at all the little coves along the way looking for treasure...

Someone done some more 'rock climbing'...

Looking back..the view is simply stunning.

Approaching Towan beach...after sitting on the warm golden sand we started our journey back this time on the inland path. Through fields & lanes lined with daffodils all in golden tones.

In the evening i popped down to porthcurnick..i lost track of time actually it was so lovely..just sharing the beach with the sea. In this pic you can see some lights on in someones little cottage in portscatho.

Night night beach ..see you in the morning.

Day Five we took a trip too Marazion..everytime we approach marazion & st michaels mount comes into view i am taken aback by its beauty. It just looks like a fairy tale to me & that it could just disappear at any moment just like in a story book.

Day three...

Day three of our holiday was another beautiful sunny day....

So we took a walk along the coastpath to another favourite of ours 'porthbean beach'..it is only a small beach but so peaceful & most times you have it all to yourselves.

Our lovely friend colin had come for the day so we enjoyed the warm sea air together.

There was a lot more seaweed on the beaches than usual due to the weather..not so much beach treasure to be found this time.

Even though it was a sunny day the sea was quite rough producing fabulous fluffy white seafoam!

In the evening we took a stroll down onto yet another favourite 'porthcurnick beach'..it was a glorious evening again we had it all to ourselves..heaven!

Our boys done some more playing & running about like mad things!

You get some stunning sunsets on the piece of coastline..i have taken so many lovely pics of it over the years.

Then we retired back to the cottage for some cornish yarg & biscuits washed down with cornish ale for mr h & a glass of white for me..the perfect day!

A few pics as promised..just a taster today as it is still taking ages to upload pics.
Anyway the above pic was on our first day,a beautiful sunny day it was too so we done our usual walk along the coastpath too...

Carne beach..there were other people there,we didnt have it all to ourselves as it looks.

It was very quiet everywere which was lovely for us.

This was murphy's first taste of cornwall & he loved it just like his big bro!

He had been nose digging after a dead crab...charming aren't they?!!

Daddy trying to get there paws wet...osi is better now but it has taken a lot of persevering!

Murphy isn't scared but isn't dashing in either.

Playtime..tennis balls dont last long with these two!!

Day two we set of to another favourite of ours 'polperro',our favourite cornish fishing village.

We done a walk we have done many times before too 'talland 'bay.

There was a haze across the sea & the air filled with the sweet sent of gorse...

The boys enjoying the stunning view back towards polperro.

The coastline changes so dramatically..we were staying on the roseland peninsular which is very pretty. Driving just a hour down the road it changes so much..i love it all!

The white froth around every rock & cliff edge the sea hits.

The lightouse at polperro..my friend julie has painted this in her paintings more than once.

Julie lived in polperro for many years were she had her gallery...'Tradewinds'.

Just as we were approached the outer harbour this boat was pulling in materials for the new sewage pipe they are laying in polperro...not a pleasent subject i know but very interesting to watch.

A speed boat brought out the 'banks man' to attach the chains from the crain onto the materials.

It is a huge costly job they started last july but have had lots of hold ups due to the weather conditions.

The net loft on the outer harbour.

Then back to the pub for a pint of cornish tribute..lovely!

A stop off in fowey on the way back to have a little look in the lovely galleries.

Home from our hols...

Hi everyone..long time no blogging i hear you cry!!
Well i have been trying for the past half an hour to upload pics from our hols but unfortunatly it is not being in a cooperative mood!!
I was going to do a day at a time,so you too had a little trip around our beloved cornwall with us but i will have to try again tomorrow.

Coastal...

On sunday to celebrate valentines we took a trip to the coast...
Too Walberswick on the suffolk coast,we go there reguarly. It is a lovely piece of coastline & at walberswick dogs are allowed on the beach all year round which is great.

It was a wild & windy day which is part of what i love about the coast..the sound of the sea crashing against the shore & the wind blowing against your face giving you that healthy glow.

It was murphy's first trip there as you can see the boys loved it!!

Look at my scrummy babies..isn't murphy catching up with osi now?

Who ever has the 'treats' is the centre of attention!!

We had a super walk along the stoney beach followed by a lovely pub lunch sitting by a real fire looking out at the boats...bliss.

Well this morning mr postman came bearing parcels....

This lovely wrapped little box contained...

These lovely seaglass earrings..can you see the little starfish etched into the silver? These were from mr H for valentines..bless him. I adore seaglass.

The second lovely wrapped parcel contained a cushion i ordered from etsy which i will show you later.

Emma who made the cushion even added a crocheted flower to the parcel..how sweet.

A sneak preview of the cushion..i am waiting for the right size insert.

The third parcel wrapped in this fab hessian contained....

This FABULOUS seagull cushion another find on etsy (which i am a bit addicted to at the mo!!),as you probably know i love anything coastal,when i saw this cushion i just fell in love with it!!

It just reminds me so much of cornwall..i always know i have arrived in cornwall when i hear the cry of the gulls..especially when we stay in polperro.

It fits in just right on my sofa...it has a blue & cream stripe backing.

And not forgetting this little gem again from etsy all the way from israel..this wonderful little porcelain tealight holder. I love dandelions & seed heads,it looks wonderful when lit!

Another week gone,where does the time go?!!

Hello my lovelies...long time no blogging. Sorry for my absence the days & weeks just seem to be flying by at the moment!
Anyway my lovely mum has been having a sort out & came across this fab 'woman' magazine...i think it was my grans.

Dated August 19th 1939 can you believe?

And some is in colour,some of the pictures are stunning. The girls in them look like old film stars.

See girls we were even worrying about our wrinkles in 1939!!

And not so good 'craven virginia cigarettes' something we try not to incourage now a days.

I bet they didnt have to step out side for a crafty one then!!

Yesterday afternoon our little market town was hit hard by the big white fluffy stuff!!

Serious white fluffy stuff came down most of the afternoon & settled very quickly.

Covering everything in its path in a thick white blanket.

Waking this morning to beautiful scenery..i love icicles there is something so magical about them..these are on the side of our front porch.

Our street...

So the four of us wrapped up warm & set off for our sunday stroll....

The trees looked so beautiful decorated delicatly in white...

The band stand had a dusting...

Our boys loved it especially osi..he always has & gets so excited he cant get out the door quick enough!

The pond was frozen solid....

Someone's snowman minus one arm as the boys are rather partical to a stick or two!!

I love pictures of trees in black & white..i think they look simply stunning.

Up for adoption is this very special prim style little bear by the very talented Wendy Meagher of Whendi's Bears in the US.

Wendy specialises in vintage prim old style bears made from mohair & dressed with vintage fabrics etc. Wendy has won many awards for her work which sells as soon as advertised.

This is little prim bear whos stands at approx 10'' tall, is made from a hand dyed aged mohair with german glass eyes & vintage textiles. This little chap is number two of a edition of two made.

I thought i would offer him to you lovely bloggers first before listing him on one of the auction sites were he is sure to find a new home.

Today's the day the teddy bears...

are looking for loving new homes....

Above we have the very beautiful 'Devon' who is a homeless bear & one of a kind. Devon stands at 10'' tall & is made from mohair as are all the bears you will see.

Now we have 'Chloe' a old time looking girl with a dear face. Chloe is one of a kind & stands at 18'' tall.

Dear sweet 'Oscar'..pictures never do him the justice that he deserves. Oscar is a limited edition & stands at 17'' tall.

Now we have this cheeky pair both by Beru Bears & are both one of a kind & stand at 9''.

The boy is called 'Archie' & the little girl has no name.

They can be seperated but in a ideal world it would be nice for them to stay together.

And finally we have the very pretty 'Millie' by Valdorf bears & is one of a kind. Millie stands at 14'' tall.

All of these bears are collectors pieces & not intended for children,all the bears come with their tags apart from the little beru bear girl with no name.

All the bears are in perfect condition & from my smoke free home!

Murphy's Diary...

Hello!! Here we are,i bet you have been wondering were we have been?!!
Nearly a whole month since i have blogged..there just dosen't seem to be enough hours in the day at the moment!

We thought you might like to see what we,when i say we i really mean 'murphy' has been up too.

This was his first trip too the beach at mersea island,which is were murphy came from.

He was very brave..not scared of the sea,people or other doggies...

& of course found a stick just like his big brother!

With daddy...

I think his trip to the beach tired his little paws out!

& toys...

my osi is being so very good & sharing his daddy's lap with his little bro!

Now fourteen weeks old & going for 'walkies',thanks goodness!

He is quite good on the lead,i have now got them on a double lead which makes things easier & murphy has learnt to 'sit & 'wait' at the curb!

I was'nt going to put as many pics on this time but when i came to it i could'nt choose between them,sorry!

Quite likes watching a bit of t.v.

I have been to the vets today for my second injection & micro chipping...ouch!!

So at the weekend we can all go out together as i have lots to explore & lots to learn.

Hello...long time no blogging!! The weeks just seem to fly by...anyway just back from a wonderful week in wonderful cornwall. Just a taste for you above more pics to follow.

our eight week old jack russell puppy...born on the 25th july.

We only picked him up on sunday so it has been a hectic few days..but he is settling in well. I was more worried about upsetting love of my lifes little world but so far he has been amazing...love him so much!

And here they are together... my boys!

This week i have been making up some more cards for my unit..i have had some new designs printed,i now have to make them into cards.

I tend to use seascapes for my cards or anything with a coastal/nautical theme as this is what i love but this time i have used flowers & planes for the male population.

i forget sometimes that not everyone likes what i like....

Now as promised the new members of the family,sorry the pics are not very clear. Fish are not very photogenic & slighty camera shy!!

We have five altogether this four are shadow,tango,sky & jazz..they are sooo sweet.

& in this pic you can see the big guy..'ging' short for ginger.

We have had them nearly three weeks,they seem to have settled in well to the water feature.

They are very therapeutic to watch & we may get a couple more there is a beautiful blue guy i rather fancy!!

This is a walk that we often do on a sunday...down the lane

past the fields....

and verges filled with a ray of wild flowers....

& this lovely old farmhouse with the dear old boy who lives there...who grows allsorts in his allotment & garden,there is often home grown produce for sale out the front. A few months ago the garden was filled with lupins in a mix of wonderful colours.

past the corn field..this must be one of the last to be harvested.

This HUGE farmhouse is set in the middle of fields with a summer house as big as our snowdrop cottage!!

Sorry i hope i had'nt got your hopes up there of some exotic destination!

Saturday we spent the day looking around duxford for mr h's dad's birthday,mr h's dad has wanted to go for years & reminis about his days in service.

We must admit mr h & i were'nt really looking forward to it but we were pleasantly surprised,it was very interesting & very nostalgic.

We started in the Airspace hanger...

it was amazing how many aircraft they fitted in each hanger..hanging from the roof filling every available space.

all shapes & sizes...

look at this beast,you would'nt want to mess with this one!!

And then look at who we saw....

Yes it is CONCORDE....

To give you a idea of the size of this machine this is mr h & his dad are standing underneath it!

Next stop battle of britain....

We were saying how we could imagine this chappie & his mates coming to life at night when everyone has left & the planes starting up.....just like they used too.

I loved these two..the ambulance & fire engine,the fire engine used to carry twelve men pulling the water pump behind them.

This is the operations room....which was all set up as if it was still working. Voices coming in over the radio..lights on the switch boards.

Now going into land warfare....

This is the remains of someone's home..showing you the destruction that happened.

There was also a pre fab bungalow,im afraid i didnt get any pics of that & you were'nt allowed inside as they wanted to preserve the interior,this particular one had lived in peckham & was home to mr & mrs bailey.

This next pic is of the bedroom caravan belonging to montgomery..i could'nt believe it,from the outside it looked like any other army vehicle but when you looked in the window was this posh bedroom,there was also a proper bathroom.There was also his living caravan which had a desk,leather sofa,pictures etc & also a wash room.

I hope i havent bored you too much..there is so much to see & so much to take in that father in law is going to have to make a few more trips to take it all in,but he enjoyed himself!

Definatly worth a visit.

This time last month...

This time last month i went to lunch with my lovely mum & the art group that mum attends once a month. We went too the yacht club back home..being sunny little walton on the naze were i grew up. The yacht club has been there many years & could do with a bit of a revamp now but without taking away its character & charm.

The view from the club is fantastic,unfortunatly we did'nt have the sunniest of days. In the distance you can see the docks at felixstowe.

When i was growing up mum used to collect for the walton life boat & every year there would be a lifeboat day were all the collectors would go for a trip out on the lifeboat & return to the yacht club for a bite to eat...happy memories.

I just loved these pink wild flowers growing on the banks...

It would make a lovely painting..

This little hut is the home of the Town Hard Association which was founded many years ago by my grandad & his friend,it was set up to protect parts of the river from being taken over by the boat yards...i think i have this right?!! Must check with mum if i am giving you the correct story for it being set up. Anyway the town hard association is still up & running today & some of my family members are still involved with it today.

My mums family are a old walton family,we go back many generations a lot of whom were connected with the lifeboat.

This is part of the river the town hard protected.

It was a lovely afternoon..a trip down memory lane,lunch was nice too!!

Well this wasnt what i planned to blog about today but it has been raining cats & dogs here all afternoon & seeing as what i had planned to blog about was outside that knocked that on the head!!

Yesterday i went too see toystory with my friend & her little girl,i would recommend it it was great fun..a bit sad in parts but then i cry at anything!!

I have just baked a quiche for tea & the scrummy smell is wafting up the stairs to me..yummy roll on tea time!!

Yes i did it....yesterday was the BIG day,my race for life in celebration of my friend julie's life.
Which i am proud to say we completed in just under 39 minutes,jogging all the way without stopping...i was very pleased with myself seeing as running has never been one thing i have been good at!!

We set off in plenty of time,you had to be there at least a hour before the race started.

On arrival you had to pin your numbers on mine being 1162 & also your back sign on which you could write your own personal message.

I had the t shirt done with julie's picture on & this is the message i wrote on the back sign.

Colin julie's hubby said to me to ask julie to run with me & i know she did...

This band kept us entertained while we waited...

These two ladies were really enjoying the band..we joked they would'nt have any energy left to do the race after all the dancing!!

Time with friends...

We have just spent a lovely long weekend with our friends from ireland...

Mr h picked them up from the airport thursday morning & they flew home monday morning...

A lot of the time was spent sitting outside....eating,drinking,laughing,relaxing...

Enjoying the sunshine....

& the surroundings...

A lot of drink was consumed of the alcoholic variety...bottles were opened with our new novelty vw bottle opener which mr h mounted on this chunky piece of wood.....

We had a great weekend as i said eating drinking at home & in our local italian restaurant & our local thai...sunday was a beautiful day so we took them on one of our favourite walks along the lane across the fields through the nature reserve stopping at the village pub resting for a few hours enjoying each others company before walking back through the fields....

I hope your weekends were filled with sunshine....

This morning i went for a run....trying to get some practise in for sunday,the big day is fast approaching for my race for life...starting to get a few butterflies now!!

Alfresco & a special keepsake...

Another week has passed since i last done a post & what a lovely week it has been too!
The weather has been great..too hot at times but great for alfresco dining which we did all over the weekend...

& lets enjoy outdoor living...

Mr h is incharge of the cooking outdoors....

Eating with the air filled with the aroma of roses & jasmine....

Yummy...my plate,vegetarian style!!

And look at our first two strawberries growing nicely & just starting to rippen until i go out tonight & some very naughty birdie has eaten the whole flippin lot & i bet i know which one it was too the same one that keeps digging holes in the flower beds & flicking it everywhere!!

Beware mrs blackbird i know who you are..you cheeky little whatsit!!

As you know we went too cambridge last sunday to collect something very special & this is what it was...

My painting by my dear friend julie who you know i lost to cancer,this is one of the last paintings julie done shortly before she died for her last exhibition which sadly julie was'nt here to see.

It is called 'clifftop daisies portwrinkle' which is in my beloved cornwall.

Here it is framed in my bedroom so it is one of the first things i see when i wake in the morning & one of the last things i see before i go to sleep...

We need to hang it on the wall really as it is a pastel painting & needs to be treated with some care...

A lovely day trip out...

Sunday we took a trip too cambridge..what a lovely time we had too!
We had a special reason for going which i will tell you about another day,i had never been too cambridge before just quickly driven through it.
We will definatly be going back there is so much to see,we had to be there for 9.00am so we were up before most people so we had it to ourselves to start with.It was a glorious sunny day we started by walking along the river where all the barges were all moored up.

In there bright & cheery colours,by the river is also a lovely big park which love of my life would have liked but he had to stay at home this time.

All the punts were moored up awaiting the rush to start & believe us by lunch time the river was full of them.people having fun on the water enjoying the sunshine!

In many ways it reminded me of venice or indeed italy with the beautiful architecture,the river,the punts & the eating outside of bars & restaurants.

Now we are approaching the town centre...

This family had hired their punt early when they had the river to themselves.

First we came to this beautiful building which was one of the many colleges in cambridge,i think it was called st james college...we found a lovely little cafe opposite here to sit outside & enjoy refreshments & cake while listening to the choir within the college.It was wonderful & yet a bit creepy if you know what i mean it reminded me again of something you may hear in rome,definatly not your normal church choir!!

These girls we think came from the college in their black capes,we think were in the choir.

Walking along the streets aligned with bicycles as this is the quickest way to get about cambridge.

This is Trinity college we did go & have a look in here they were having some work done so only the chapel was open but definatly worth the visit..it was like stepping back in time even though the college is in full use today.

Mr h inside the grounds to the right is the chapel..parts of the college date back too 1317. One of the former occupants was sir issac newton from 1642-1727.

Outside in the grounds...

When walking along the main streets there are lots of little roads & alley ways leading off in different directions some with the old fashioned street lamps some of which reminded me of 'oliver'.

Another college i am afraid to say i cannot remember its name....

This was part of the college wall which gave the impression you were looking through a window to the glorious gardens beyond...

After some site seeing we found the old market square selling local crafts,fresh veg,bread,cheeses,meat etc...

Today wasnt about shopping so i was very good & did'nt enter one of the delightful little craft/galleries which for me is hard!! We did pop into john lewis which was a nice treat as we dont have one on our doorstep.

These performers were fab,they travel all over they are in cambridge for a few more days then they are off too denmark it was great listening to them while soaking up the sunshine.

It is such a social place..great to sit outside a bar & watch the world go by.

On our way back along the river we stopped at a lovely italian restaurant for lunch sitting outside looking across the river enjoying a glass of vino..aahhh bliss!!

We hope to pay cambridge another visit in august for my birthday as there is so much to see we didnt even scratch the surface!

My where has this week gone..i thought i had better sneek a post in before the week ends?!!
Last sunday was spent in the garden with my lovely mum & dad to celebrate fathers day.

The sun even put in a apperance..we had a nice chilled relaxing afternoon with laughs & smiles..

Roses on the table freshly cut from snowdrop cottage garden..i have had so many this year..fresh flowers indoors every day.

Looking through the archway...mr h cooked us a lovely barbi feast washed down with a few bevi's!!

~The~ new~ bedroom~

Please come on in...to my newly decorated bedroom,i have been meaning to show you it for the past few weeks. All the doors in snowdrop cottage are old latch doors...this one took some major stripping,all the years of paint over the beautiful old latches..we took them right back & painted them black again as they would have been.

My new rug called shoreline as it is all the colours you would find along the shore & as we know i have a love for anything coastal which is the colour theme i have used. No carpets in this house..coir through out.

I have always wanted a iron bed with a bed head at the bottom as well as the top if you know what i mean?!!

The ceiling light isnt a new edition we have had that some time it came from laura ashleys,the canvas on the wall i had made up from a picture i took of a beach we always walk too in wonderful cornwall..some of you may recognise it? In the recess i have a large seagrass trunk which houses all my towels & linen,it also doubles up as a bedside table!

The stripey bed linen is from marks & sparks again i love the colours,the check blanket is from a lovely little shop called great danes.

My blind i had made in this fab fabric,the boat is made by a lovely lady in polperro cornwall in the arts foundation,you must pay them a visit if you are ever in polperro.

Of course my funky pink roberts radio & newly fitted cast iron radiator ready for the winter.

These rush storage baskets are great for under the bed & they look good too..from tesco's direct.

The sea cushion..so sweet,i have seen some more i like as i like a cluster of cushions. i will have to start saving my pennies!!

This dear little box with rope handle & slate heart is from christine at the seagarden in portscatho you can find christine's blog on blogs that i follow.

I love this cushion i got this a few years ago from fowey it sits on a cream chair with alfie bear.

Hanging on the wardrobe door...

My love of driftwood...

On the dressing table sits a vintage magpie bunnie 'olivia' made by the lovely nicky again can be found on blogs that i follow.

This vintage celery glass is ideal for displaying my shells & i found this lovely creamic treasures label.

Oohh & my driftwood heart,i had wanted one of these to hang above our bed for a while & i found this beauty in a favourite gallery of mine in sennen cornwall called the capstan gallery again a must to visit...all the work is produced locally which makes it even more special.

Would'nt we all like to wake up to blue skies? This was found when we went to norfolk it sits on top of the wall mirror.

It has a lovely relaxing feel to the room now..it is a pleasure to wake up to in the morning & the new bed is soooooooo comfy!!

Well thats passed some time away without having to watch the dreaded FOOTBALL...mr h has gone down the pub with his brother & a friend to watch it in peace without me moaning on & asking stupid questions!!

Yesterday my friend...my race for life partner infact came for the day...we had a lovely day.

We walked to our local farm shop which is in a lovely little village called 'greenstead green'...we walked through all the country lanes taking in all the very green lush scenery.

We were able to sit outside & have our lunch followed by a look around the farm shop at all the local produce..we treated ourselves to these sweet strawberries..the first this year...

accompanied by these scrummy meringue nests..okay not quite so local but from my favourite part of the country...

topped with this double cream..scrummy!!

What a lovely dessert..i think i will back for more!

Firstly let me apologise for the above picture which for some reason has been uploaded the wrong way & no matter what i do i cannot correct it which i am really annoyed about as it is a important picture on this post!!
Anyway i am taking part in 'Race for life' in celebration of my dear friend julie's life...as most of you lovely bloggers know we lost julie to cancer six weeks ago....my it seems so much longer than that ..so much seems to have happened in that time.
Her very special goodbye service which we travelled down too cornwall for...many tributes have been paid to julie.
Julie was a very talented special lady & i was proud to be her friend..julie was a artist,a very talented artist at that...her passion was painting 'seascapes' especially of where julie lived in wonderful cornwall with all its wonderful scenery.

A New Burrow Required...

This little bunnie is looking for a new burrow & not just any old burrow ....this lady bunnie has very high standards!!

A very posh bunnie who likes her creature comforts & only organically grown vegi's!

This dear bunnie is made from a vintage pink wool blanket with jointed legs,wired poseable ears,black bead eyes & lovely thread whiskers,nose,mouth & claws.

Depending on how you pose her ears her overall height is approx 15 inches..this little bunnie is very smartly dressed in her cream cotton dress with fringed detail...she is also one of a kind & was born in america.

I am offering this dear little bunnie for adoption...the adoption fee is £22.oo plus p&p at £5.00.

A thing about blue...

There appears to be a bit of a 'blue' thing going on around here at 'snowdrop cottage'...

These are my purchases from the weekend while mr h was on his 'golfing' weekend...

I was desperate for new slippers,i had been walking about in mr h's for weeks...so i set off to m&s at freeport our local designer village were i also found these great pumps for the summer.

On saturday i went to mum & dads ,mum & i took a trip into frinton as there are a couple of little one off shops/galleries that we are rather partial too....were i found this lovely scarf which i fell in love with straight away. It was from a little shop called 'great danes' which is run by two danish ladies,their stock also comes from denmark..so as you can imagine it is rather lovely in there!

Back to freeport again & good old m&s were i got these 'blue' cropped jeans for the summer...if we get one?!!

& also a white pair of dressy jeans...

Oooohhh & this scrummy blanket for my bedroom again from great danes..i do have a bit of a thing for throws & such like.

Love of my life also had a presi..a new blanket,which you can see he has be come quite fond off..

Oohh what a handsome model....

Stripes are another passion...i loved the colour tones of these towels for our bathroom..from 'christys' again at freeport...

Here they are housed in a mini rowing boat in my bathroom...

Now love of my life is sitting on another lovely find which i will tell you more about next time..lets just say i have a newly decorated room at snowdrop cottage...which one could it be?

Blue is a bit like my mood again today..feeling a bit sad ...

Simply Shells...

Sea shells,sea shells on the seashore...

I adore shells,so many different sorts all beautiful in their own way & all made by nature...which makes them even more special...

These two are from a favourite cove of ours in cornwall..

This dear little sea urchin i think i picked up while in norfolk...these are so delicate it was a miracle that it made it home in one piece.

The following shells i collected when i took my trip down memory lane to mersea island last weekend...

These are the shells from the oysters which is what mersea is famous for...they come in all sizes...these had other shells or fossils attached to them...

I just love the tones in colour....

I have shells displayed all over 'snowdrop cottage'...along with seaglass another passion of mine & items made from delightful driftwood...

A simple display but so pleasing to the eye...

I thought the seashells might bring a bit of sunshine to such a wet miserable sunday,a typical bank holiday...dont you think?!!

A trip down memory lane...

Dear All...
Thankyou once again for all your kind comments...well the last week has been spent deep in thought & walking basically after travelling down to cornwall for julie's farewell last monday.
We travelled down on the sunday & had to return home monday as mr h had work commitments & unfortunatly not everyone is so understanding.

I have spent most days walking the countryside were we live & enjoying the sunshine too...love of my life's little legs are now quite a bit shorter,bless him!
On saturday i decided to take a trip down memory lane & go too west mersea island,which is were my friend julie & colin lived for a while...i felt i may feel nearer to her. i went & saw there dear 'little barn' & rembered happy times we shared with them there.
Then i set off for a walk along the stoney beach,looking for sea treasure & enjoying the warmth of the sun.

Julie was a very talented artist & seascapes were her favourite subjects to paint & was surrounded by inspiration in mersea...wonderful sea & boats.

I am feeling very sad & blue at the moment....as on easter sunday after a long brave battle with the most awful disease 'cancer' my dear friend julie lost her fight.
Julie had been so very brave & had fought all the way. I feel so sad...it is so hard to imagine not seeing her face again,hear her voice or being able to pick up the phone & talk about the latest goings on...we shared some passions. One of them being cornwall,along with many others including anything to do with the sea & coastline.
I thankyou julie as you inspired me so much in my life & have made me in many ways what i am & love today.
I will miss you dearly..why do we always leave it to late to tell people how we feel about them?!!

Thankyou for you messages of concern as i have been away from blogland for a while..i will do a post soon with those pics of cornwall.xx

Mothers day...

Mothers day is fast approaching & a very important day of the year it is too!
So i have been busy making cards & gift tags to sell in my unit down the mill,as usual i have left it until the last moment.
I just seem to have been so busy lately what with one thing or another...i hope you like them.

The tags are decorated with scraps of fabric,lace,old buttons some with old postcards & wire hearts etc.

I should have taken the pics before i put the clear sleeves on them....some of the tags complement the cards.

I made simular ones for valentines...

I might start up my own etsy shop to sell my cards through instead of putting them all in my unit down the mill as it can sometimes be a bit slow & people dont always appreciate the time that goes into making these sorts of things do they?

Im not to sure about these next too..i find them a bit creepy what with the old pics.

I suppose you could always send them to your mother in law....hehe...naughty me!!

I like these two..i enjoy using my rubber stamps.

I still have to make my mums & mr h's...but i have a idea in mind of what i want to do.

I have ordered my lovely mum some of these wonderful daffs from the scilly isles..i think they are narcissus this time of year,well you know what i mean.

The day we went to the bear fair!!

Yes yesterday we went to one of the most important events on my calendar...the winter bearfest at kensington town hall...

The show is held twice a year...feb & september. If you have never been & love bears it is a must.

There are bear artists from all over the world,such talented clever people & sooooo much to see!!

And of course it is impossible to come home empty handed....this year nicky from the vintage magpie had a stand with all her wonderful vintage magpie critters.

Look who came home with me....please let me introduce 'roddy' by one of my favourite artists Gail Thornton of Bisson bears.

You will have heard me talk about gail's bears before,they are just simply wonderful...i have six now & intend to add more!!

Isnt he just gorgeous?

Roddy is one of a kind with wonderful airbrush detailing & very heavy in weight...perfect!

Gail's bears always have the most wonderful eyes...like they have a soul.

Roddy did,nt come with his scarf & i dont normally accessorise my bears at all..but i found this little 100% alpaca scarf in these lovely colours that seemed to suit him so well & of course keep him nice & snug!

Let me introduce you too....chloe who is a limited edition 1 of 2. measuring from the tip of her ears to the tip of her toes 17 ''. Made from mohair as are all my collectors bears....these are not intended as toys.

This is Acorn & his little monkey friend who are one of a kind...acorn measures 15''. monkey measures 8''. Very weighty this pair...to many midnight feasts of honey & nuts!!

Sweet little abraham..a traditional little chap again one of a kind,measuring 8''.

Pretty mathilda in her best cardigan...limited edition 1 of 10,measuring 6''.

Wonderful zoe who is one of a kind..with the most beautiful eye lashes,i always feel pictures never do zoe justice...she is much more stunning in the furr. Measuring 17''.

And now 'sally' well that is what i have named her..by twinkle moon some of who you will know from the land of blog. Sally is made beautifully again a collectors piece & comes with her tag as do all the bears..measuring 23''.

I am umming & arrrring about leonora...do i dont i?!! Very pretty in a pale dusky pink mohair with lace shawl & pearl around her neck..one of a kind,measuring 8 1/2''.

Love of my life is famous!! He has a double how lucky am i?!!

Oscar number two was my valentines presi from mr h...so he was very much in my good books!!

Some of you may recognise 'oscar' he started life as 'william' but we had it changed through doggy depol!! Oscar is created by the lovely nicky of the vintage magpie,who many of you will already know. You can find nicky here http://thevintagemagpie.typepad.com/thevintagemagpie/

Nicky done a post on oscar on her blog last week....nicky had used love of my life as her inspiration to make oscar (william)...i was so chuffed & proud of my handsome little man!!

He is tri colour just like love of my life & wears a bandana too!!

& he has those jack russell ears..

So today i thought i would see just how clever oscar was...we started with some spelling with the building blocks but as you can see it didnt go to well...thats not how you spell oscar now is it?!!

Oscar has made friends with dear old rupert another of nickys creations...

Rupert was no help on the spelling front either..back to school for these two i think!

So we turned to the abacus for some counting ..1 2 3 4

Uumm i think this friendship might take some working on....

The way to Mr H's heart is...

a sherry trifle....& seeing as it is a day for LuRrVve tomorrow i thought i would whip him one up.
It is now hiding in the back of the fridge,not the easiest of things to hide really!!

And of course he has a bag of goodies too..i got this sweet little clay heart when we were in norfolk last weekend.

There is something about hearts isnt there?

No matter what shape...

or size.

I think i have a heart in every room of snowdrop cottage...

I must show you my hyacinths..look how they have grown & flowered,they smell lovely!

They seem to be quite happy on my kitchen window ledge...

I have to move them at night or my tai would eat them during the night...he is rather partial to anything of the green plant variety!

Perfect.

I felt we needed a splash of colour at snowdrop cottage this week so i bought a couple of bunches of daffs from mr m & s...they have filled two vases beautifully.

They too have a glorious scent....

& really brighten the room...especially on these dark gloomy days.

What ever you are doing tomorrow,how ever you are celebrating the day of love have a wonderful time!!

Today we go to Holkham beach...

Please let me take you on a walk on the wonderful Holkham beach....i have wanted to go to holkham since i saw a painting of it by one of my favourite artists.
Dawn had been lucky enough to photograph the beach on a glorious sunny day,which wasnt quite the case when we went saturday...but this dosent bother us as we always think the coastline looks beautiful no matter what the weather...we like to see the changing moods.

Well when we went saturday there was a thick sea mist,you could only just see a short distance in front of you..Holkham beach is so vast...the sea is in the distance when you first get on the beach,we could'nt even see the sea until we got up close.

The beach streches over four miles of white gold sand with wonderful dunes & reeds which i love.
The film 'shakespeare in love' was filmed here on the beach...

I just love walking through the dunes with the sounds of the sea in the distance...

Even though there were plenty of people out for their saturday stroll they seemed miles away..you didnt come face to face with anyone just saw their silhouttes in the distance. Lovely just how i like it!!

I love this picture of this couple who were clearly 'loved up'...walking hand in hand by the shore...

Aha the sea...it was definatly worth the wait....

The sandy pools on the beach were a glorious colour of oranges & golds...

The view through the reads....this would make a lovely painting..uummmm!!

Weathered by the sea...

We decided to pop back again on monday on our way too Burnham market....now today there was no mist but guess what there was snow!!

It was quite magical walikng on a beautiful beach on a beautiful coastline in the snow....

The snow was catching on the loose fluffy sand...

Wait for me dad i only have little legs!!

Beautiful Blakeney...

On friday we packed up the car & set off too Blakeney on the norfolk coast...somewere i have been wanting to go for some time. We were supposed to go the beginning of january but because of the wintery snowy weather we changed it as norfolk was hit pretty badly with the bad weather.
We arrived at our little cottage 'The hayloft' friday afternoon & were welcomed by these lovely flowers,wine & choci's!!

I thought you might like to take a peek inside..it was tiny but very cosey it did used to be a old hayloft. It was tucked up a tiny little gravel driveway with a few other little cottages.

The spiral staircase was a novelty, i did wonder how love of my life would cope with it...at first he looked at as if to say 'on your bike' but then soon got the hang of it. My clever little man!!

Cosey little sitting room with the lovely doors..you can imagine it on a summers evening.

I forgot to take a picture from the outside..anyway you came out of the driveway & straight onto the high street.....

This is the high street...i know thats what i thought not what we are used too is it?!!

Lined with dear little stone cottages & lots of little alley ways leading off to more little cottages full of charm.

I love pretty windows...this one is just up my street.

The view from the end of the high street across to the wonderful quay.

There was a deli,a spar,gallery,chandlers,giftshop & a fish shop...the only ones actually in the high street were the deli & the giftshop!!

This was our first proper view of blakeney & what a wonderul sight it was,i could'nt believe my eyes infact i was quite elated.

We walked down to the quay about 4pm as the sun was going down....need i say more. Enjoy!!

I was so chuffed with these pictures i had to show you them all...i hope you enjoyed them!

We had a mixture of weather over the weekend as you will see over my next few posts but it looked lovely in each of them.

We will definatly be going back again,we are lucky as we can be there in just over two hours which is great for a weekend away.

Love of my life is exhausted today,i havent heard a peep from him,only to be expected we did do a lot of walking & its twice as far for his little legs!!
